Dan Moulder is the Project and Paralegal Manager at Butler Snow LLP. He’s also the author of “The Lunch: How to Manage You. A Leadership Book for the Rest of Us”. He knows how important it is to make sure that employees feel valued at their work. He sits down with host Molly McGrath to talk about what businesses can do to make their employees feel respected.

  • There are always ways to improve. Take some time to write in a journal about the ways you can improve yourself either in your personal life or work life.
  • You need to meet your employees or colleagues where they are. Once you understand their mindset better you know to work with them.
  • You have to realize you are in the human to human business. If you don’t treat your employees like actual humans they won’t stay for long.
  • The pandemic allowed people to really reevaluate their life and if their job is something they wanted to continue doing.
  • Everyone wants to feel connected and respected. Show your employees that you care and it will make all the difference in the world.
  • Don’t say that you don’t care about something. Indifference is the opposite of love, so show your love by saying what is on your mind.
  • People tend to hold themselves back. We need to be aware of this and make sure we overcome this obstacle and achieve our ultimate goals.

Quote of the Show:

8:10 “I like to call it, meeting them where they are. So you're not getting something out of an employee or a colleague; they're not acting or producing in a manner that you would expect them to do. And by talking to them, by meeting them where they are, they will start to talk to you and say things and exhibit behaviors that hopefully by reading the book, you can identify as one of these mindsets that we talk about.”
